1800s Wood Cut Print Collection

Listing of items in the collection

These lists are presented in three types. The first group is in MS Excel format. The second group is in Adobe .pdf format, and the third is a Flash slide show. We are aware that there remains a few errors in the listing. These errors are in the favor of the buyer in that there are items that are not included in the listings. Also we are aware that there remains a very few errors in identification. The task of identifying the few remaining items is daunting and difficult at best. We feel it best to just provide what we now have listed and believe the buyer will be pleasantly surprised. There are many items included in this listing that were not originally mentioned. These include some very rare books that are related to the print collection. The collection also includes very old postcards, Mormon currency from the 1800s, some very old charcoal sketches of the Salt Lake City area, Deseret News newspapers, including the entire year: 1877 (the year of Pres. Brigham Young's death), very old maps, an issue of the Times and Seasons (Nauvoo Church periodical), photographs, and a 1947 commemorative Mormon postage stamp. The collection includes custom made cases. The oldest print is 1841 followed by and 1845 print of the Nauvoo Temple with Moroni on his side. The collection includes prints from London and Germany.

• Excel list ordered by year within publication within category (note: the print number identifies a specific print (column A). Column B identifies 1) if a photo of the print has been taken, and 2) if a print is a duplicate of another print and if so, which one. Additional information about each print is supplied on the sheet. Great efforts have been made to insure accuracy, but there are known errors. We believe them to be essentially minor and probably all in the favor of the purchaser.

• Excel list ordered by pre-assigned print #. This list helps to identify print photos by the print number. This list is not as accurate as the list immediately above and is known to contain errors.

• Link to a slide show of the collection. The slide show presented here is an extremely small sample of what is contained in the collection. If you move your mouse over the image you are viewing, a description will pop up.
